The Importance of UX Patterns

Mohd Shahrul Faiz 13 June 2023 0

User experience (UX) patterns play a vital role in creating effective and user-friendly designs. These patterns are widely used techniques that address common usability issues and simplify user interactions with software programs, websites, applications, services, or products. By incorporating UX patterns into the design process, we can streamline the user experience, save development time, and enhance customer satisfaction. In this article, we will explore the significance of UX patterns, their benefits, and how to effectively use them in design projects.

What is User Experience or UX?

User experience (UX) refers to how users feel and interact with technology, such as software programs, websites, applications, services, or products. UX designers aim to meet user needs by creating intuitive interfaces that connect customers with brands. Balancing aesthetic UI design with logical navigation is a challenge for designers, and UX patterns provide proven solutions to common user issues.

What Are UX Patterns?

UX patterns are reusable design elements that address typical usability problems faced by users. These patterns serve as a foundation for delivering excellent user experiences. They provide several advantages, including increased user satisfaction, intuitive interfaces requiring less mental effort, improved sales conversion, enhanced consumer involvement, efficient customer support, and higher app retention rates. UX patterns also provide designers with practical solutions that can be modified and enhanced to meet specific project requirements.

Why Are UX Patterns Important?

UX patterns reduce the time and effort required for users to navigate through a website or product. Familiar patterns enable users to associate new interfaces with previously encountered ones, resulting in a smoother user experience. By meeting user expectations, designers can create high levels of user satisfaction. UX patterns also establish a common vocabulary among designers, fostering effective collaboration and communication within teams.

Examples of UX Design Patterns
  1. Data Input and Output: Examples include date pickers, form submissions, success/fail messages, app notifications, and progress bars/steps.
  2. Content Structuring: Consistent layouts for image thumbnail blocks or navigation panels improve user exploration and learning.
  3. Navigation: Well-known navigation patterns for desktop and mobile interfaces make it easier for users to navigate a website or app.
  4. Social Media & Sharing: Design patterns utilizing social media links, sharing icons, and testimonials with quotes and pictures to build trust and encourage user actions.
  5. Incentivization: Gamification and incentives motivate users to complete tasks and develop a connection with the product.
  6. Hierarchy: Hierarchical patterns, such as tables of contents, headers, and breadcrumbs, help users scan content and take appropriate actions.
How to Use UX Design Patterns

To effectively use UX design patterns, follow these steps:

  1. Identify the usability issue: Conduct research, surveys, and interviews to pinpoint usability problems.
  2. Explore solutions on other websites: Analyse how similar websites address the identified issues using design patterns.
  3. Evaluate effectiveness: Assess the suitability of these patterns based on your users’ requirements and goals.
  4. Select the appropriate pattern: Choose the design pattern that best fits your website’s needs and modify it to meet your users’ unique requirements.
Conclusion

UX patterns are essential tools for designers to create intuitive and user-friendly interfaces. By leveraging proven design solutions, designers can streamline the user experience, communicate effectively with team members, and achieve higher engagement, revenue, and retention rates. Incorporating UX patterns into your design process will result in better user experiences and ultimately contribute to the success of your products.

6 Ways to Create A Strong & Powerful Brand For Your Business

Megat Syahmi Waiz 4 August 2022 0

Every business that wants to expand must begin the ongoing process of brand building. A strong brand image humanises your company and informs your target market of the advantages of using your goods and services. People’s perceptions of your brand are shaped by your branding, which increases brand value and loyalty.

Even before they make a purchase from you, people have an opinion of your company. Therefore, you should invest a lot of time and energy into developing your brand if you want to increase your chances of being well-regarded. Building a brand involves making a strong first impression on clients to get them to think favourably of your company. In order to stand out and increase sales, it includes developing a distinctive and trustworthy image for your company.

Here are some of the ways to create a strong and powerful brand for your business:

Know Your Target Audience

Identifying your target audience will lay the groundwork for developing your brand. So, in order to create a brand, you must first identify the target market. You can tailor your messages to meet their profile in this way. Be as specific as you can when defining your target audience.

When you are developing your marketing and business plan, keep your target clients in mind. Your brand identity gets stronger the more you understand your industry and your target market. Your target market must be more precisely defined so that the rest of your brand strategy may be developed with them in mind. Learn about them so you may properly develop your brand and concentrate on your marketing efforts.

You’ll come to understand that focusing on a smaller segment of your target market gives your company a competitive advantage when branding. By doing this, you can make sure that the intended audience receives your marketing message in its entirety.

Know Your Competitors

You are most likely not the first company in your field to sell the products or offer the services you do. One of the main elements in identifying and defining your brand positioning is competitor research (or market research). Never copy exactly what the leading companies in your sector are doing. You should be aware of what they excel in or where they fall short, though.

To distinguish your company from the competitors, research and comprehend their positioning. Additionally, the study will show how your brand stacks up against the competition and what the market thinks of it.

The top competitors in your niche should be researched as one of the initial steps in brand building. This will help you with brand development and point out what they are doing well (or wrong). Of course, the objective isn’t to imitate your rival; it’s to set yourself apart from them and persuade a consumer to choose you over them.

Create A Unique Selling Proposition

Establishing your company’s core principles and philosophies should come after you have a good understanding of your customers. Determine the advantages of doing business with your company over those of your competitors. In order for people to perceive your brand differently from your rivals, you must place it in their thoughts.

It takes some serious conscience and imagination to identify your USP. Examining how other businesses leverage their USPs is a good place to start. This necessitates a thorough examination of marketing materials and advertisements from competing businesses. You can discover a lot about how businesses set themselves apart from others if you examine what they say and what they sell rather than just their product or service features.

Knowing your competition will help you set yourself apart from them, and being aware of their moves will help you strengthen your own brand. Watch what they do to attract the market since you’re all vying for the same customers. Making note of which strategies work and which don’t will help you improve your own approaches.

Be Consistent

Once your brand has a solid basis, you want to make sure that your activities continue to strengthen and expand it. Conduct brand audits regularly to check that your vendors’, workers’, and customers’ perceptions of your brand are consistent with who you are. Then, keep addressing shortcomings, highlighting strengths, and taking additional steps to make sure your brand is still in a position to succeed.

While maintaining consistency is essential for building your personality, it’s also critical to have enough flexibility to be current and significant. While you don’t want to alter the core of your brand, you do want to be open to innovative campaigns, changing strategies that are no longer effective, and include fresh concepts that can help you continue to set yourself apart from the competition.

Develop An Identity & Voice

You may improve your customer interactions and increase sales by creating a compelling brand voice and using it across your content. Choose a voice or messaging that most accurately represents your brand by doing research on what your target audience sees and thinks about when they hear about it. In this manner, your brand’s personality is conveyed to your target market, and you learn how to strengthen your brand identity.

A possible brand voice is; professional, friendly, service-oriented, authoritative, technical, promotional, conversational, and informative.

When posting on social media or a blog, this is very necessary. Your brand’s voice will be more easily recognisable across platforms if you keep it consistent. When consuming your material, a community of followers, readers, or subscribers will start to anticipate a particular brand voice and brand personality.

Stay True With Your Purpose

Every successful company has a compelling reason for existing. Consider your brand as a distinct individual with a distinct personality. Describe every aspect of this individual, and then reflect those qualities in all that your company produces. More than only the commitments made in your goal and vision statements constitute brand personality. It’s the steps you take to keep those commitments.

Many well-known brands have origin stories, and your company should have one as well. For context, consider that 50% of consumers claim they base their purchases on a company’s brand values. People no longer purchase what you sell or do, they want why you do what you do.

This is the quickest approach to establish a solid reputation, which opens up additional business opportunities. Reviewing your mission and vision statements can also be helpful in determining your purpose. While vision statements discuss your goals for the not-too-distant future, mission statements often describe what you do.

Conclusion

Branding can make or break your business. A strong brand gives your company a distinct identity, raises its value, and attracts desirable clients. It entails spreading the word about your company using tried-and-true tactics.

It is now an unwritten rule that every business must have good branding. Due to this, many business owners have begun to enlist the help of brand strategists with the necessary experience and understanding in creating brands for other corporations. These are excellent first steps in brand building.

And as one of the leading brand developers in Malaysia, Seetru Studio provides a comprehensive and bespoke approach to your branding strategy. Browse through our services here to get the attention you deserve!

6 UX Mistakes To Avoid When Designing A Website

Megat Syahmi Waiz 26 July 2022 0

UX design entails a lot more than just making eye-catching buttons and elegant layouts. A UX designer must create a feasible user campaign to make the task more user-centric, escorting users through the website or app and convincing them to cooperate with the deliberate touchpoints.

Before you begin, it’s always a good idea to brush up on design fundamentals. It’s critical to begin with a clear vision of what you want your website to accomplish and how it will do so. This is because today’s web design software has such a large number of tools and possibilities that even inexperienced designers can quickly become overwhelmed.

Many UX designers, on the other hand, are more concerned with their own sense of beauty than needs of their consumers. The critical UX mistakes to avoid when creating a website are listed below.

Poor Content

Do not underestimate the importance of your content. To improve the user experience on your website, you’ll need high-quality content. Any website’s content is its foundation. Incorrect layout, non-unique material, obsolete information, missing content, typos, and errors are among the most common content faults.

On a website, the focus of your material should be on the intended audience, and it should adhere to your brand’s fundamental message. It should provide your customers with useful information. To secure higher page rankings on the SERP, you should also follow SEO standards.

The website’s content is just as important as its look and functionality. If your website has too much detail, make it precise, brief, and bulleted so that readers can quickly discover the key message and remain engaged with your page. You can use relevant photos, video snippets, and infographics to draw users’ attention in addition to information.

Unclear Call To Action (CTA)

Many new businesses nowadays do not include a call to action in their marketing or sales pitches. To keep the website screen clean and unique, they hide the call-to-actions and alternatives behind explicit gestures. They are making it difficult for clients to execute actions on the website by obscuring CTAs on the interface’s element , which may drive some people to leave.

Call-to-actions like “Contact Us” will be very effective for you and practical for your users, adding to a smooth user experience. You can entice people to your business with CTAs, but you must ensure that each action is clear, as abiguity can have severe consequences.

For example, everything should be correctly placed with a clear call-to-action if you want them to sign up, seek a quote, make a purchase, or give you a call. Your call to action (CTA) is the action you want your website visitors to take. This is something you should be thinking about as a web designer all of the time.

Slow Page Loading

It doesn’t matter how brilliant or innovative your website is if it doesn’t work correctly in browsers. People are irritated by slow loading page and are compelled to leave that website. Your website’s performance problems are also serious.

The majority of visitors anticipate a website to load in 3 to 4 seconds, and if it takes longer than that, the website is providing a poor user experience. This is the most critical error to avoid because it causes high bounce rates and lowers consumer happiness.

Needless to say, if a website takes an eternity to load, it is highly likely that it will not rank well, thereby impacting its overall performance.

Improper Navigation

A major user experience error to avoid is believing that users will figure out how to utilise the website or app on their own. The navigation should be completely obvious and tailored to the user’s preferences. If they are frequently perplexed by the process, they will go on to something else.

The most important content on your website should be easily accessible. When people come to your website, they should be able to tell right away what you have to offer. It works for everyone in or out of your target demographic.

Your company’s core information on your website is another basic item to consider. Remember to keep in mind what your customers are looking for when building your homepage. Your company’s material may include general brand information, delivery and return policies, and FAQs, depending on the services you provide and the things you sell.

Every link that could be valuable should be easily accessible. You’ll notice how much your customers love the navigation once it’s been made effective, as seen by higher engagement and conversion rates.

Too Much Complexity

The most crucial thing to remember is to emphasis on content production and placement. You may have observed that search engines crawl pages with precise and bulleted content more frequently.

Most customers desire solutions that function smoothly and quickly, since today’s preferred websites have a fairly minimal user interface. Having too much functionality in the website right away can be confusing and impair the user experience. If you want to avoid this, make sure your software has high-quality features and functionality. You can continue to improve these features rather than creating new ones in the future.

Non-responsive Design

The majority of individuals nowadays choose to search for businesses or services on the internet using their mobile phones or tablets. A mobile responsive website is essential for catering to the largest number of customers accessing websites from various devices.

One of the most common mistakes made by web designers is failing to incorporate responsive aspects into their designs. Users nowadays demand mobile compatibility and responsiveness as a top priority. It is the most important, but also the most difficult, feature to incorporate in websites. Users want to use their smartphones, tablets, and laptops to access everything. If consumers discover that the website does not open properly on all devices, they choose to abandon it and go to another website.

If you don’t build your website or app with a responsive framework, your users won’t be able to get the most out of their experiences when using a smartphone. Don’t limit your users by making this simple and common error. For the best user experience, redesign your application to promote responsiveness.

Conclusion

The user interface and user experience (UI and UX) are the most important elements of a website’s design. If both of these catch people’s attention, it signifies your web design is a success. Without a question, you have an incredible website design, but by following the above guidelines, you may greatly improve your design’s user experience.

Basic Skills Every UI/UX Designer Needs

Megat Syahmi Waiz 20 July 2022 0

With user experience design becoming more popular and in demand, the need to diversify skills is clear. UI-UX design is a diverse industry and it’s not uncommon to find people who have specializations in various competencies. This can lead to a little confusion, especially if you’re just getting started in UX design and don’t know what knowledge you need to succeed

UX design is a diverse field full of designers with multi-faceted backgrounds and varying skill sets. With booming opportunities in UX design, even with the most amazing portfolio, it can be hard to determine how to shine above the rest of the applicants when trying to land the dream job.

Design is not only about doing great work, it is also about creating and holding a great presentation. The people you’ll present to are either product managers, VPs, or even the CEO. They don’t know why or how your designs will increase their sales or client retention. It’s your responsibility to show them.

Each of them has their own role in the company, and they might not fully grasp the effectiveness of your improvements. You need to sell your ideas with a presentation. Designers should keep this in mind: it doesn’t matter how many hours you spend coming up with great ideas if you don’t dedicate enough time to present those ideas.

You Cannot Design What You Don't Understand

In order to create great experiences for people, you need to know what’s going on in their heads. You need to understand what motivates and terrifies them. You need to create personas and map out your users’ lives. You need to find out how they think and what makes them tick. Only then can you create a design that is easy to use, has an impact on your users emotionally and makes them want to keep coming back to your product again and again.

Clear Calls To Action

This is a simple concept that thankfully has become better understood over the last few years. Clear, simple calls to action help users understand the flow they should take through an application. There is no benefit in adding complexity. Human short-term memory works best with 2-3 pieces of information at a time, so if you want to get someone to take an action on a page, make sure your directions are simple/minimal.

Write Less

When you visit a website you don’t want to read a big pile of text and still not know what the product does. People don’t read lots of text. Instead of writing long paragraphs about your product, create short bites that describe what your product does. Get the reader’s attention and keep it. Remove jargon and use simple language.

Always remember that people only hold three pieces of information at a time so anything else is just taking up space on your page. If possible keep text to a minimum and only include the most important information.

Visual Communication Skills

Visual design in UX concerns so much more than how a website looks and feels—although that is important, too. Think of standardized UI elements such as the hamburger menu or even the playback button. When users see these icons they immediately know they’re clickable and what they represent. An effective visual communication skillset is about minimizing the need for written instructions and using visual cues to guide the user and help them understand where to go next, how to find the information they need, and what other actions they can take.

Analytical Skills

Even after a product or feature is sent to production, usability testing isn’t done yet. Your job as a UI/UX designer is to constantly monitor data on product usability and find ways to improve existing products while using data to infer new product ideas. When you create an app or website, you need to test it. Understanding numbers, percentages, and ratios will help you evaluate the performance of your design.

Let The Data Do The Work

When you’re unsure of which path to go down, let data validate the decision—there’s no reason to have people argue about what font or colour is the best. Test your concepts as often as possible, either with A/B testing or user testing. Your goal should be to get the most amount of value with the least amount of effort.

Start with simple prototypes and show them to your target audience. This approach is more effective and, in many cases, also more time-efficient.

Be Aware Of Technical Constraints

The best designers have a technical mindset and at least a basic level of programming knowledge. They’re able to set a project up for success by keeping the project’s technical constraints in mind from the start.

Consider mobile design from the very beginning. Know the resolutions your work will be displayed at, or what platforms it’ll be hosted on (iOS, Android, phones, tablets, etc.). For those of you who are great designers but don’t know details about the technical parts, we have 3 suggestions:

Become knowledgeable. There are thousands of useful articles and courses scattered all across the web. Many of them are free or cost very little. You can easily read one helpful article a day or take a course, such as Responsive Web Design by Google, on a weekend. The better you become, the more successful you’ll be.

Spend time with developers. Get to know their view of the projects you’re working on. A developer, for example, will always look for a simple solution. There are many ways to achieve complex interactions with minimal use of CSS and Javascript. By collaborating together, you can often come up with a faster and more eloquent solution.

Ask a ton of questions. Everyone starts somewhere. Don’t hesitate to reach out on massive online communities, such as StackExchange or Quora, and ask whatever you need to know.

Website Marketing Trends for 2022

Megat Syahmi Waiz 9 June 2022 0

To make a solid short-term marketing plan, it is important to keep an eye on where you’re heading in the long term. Nobody can know for sure what the future of marketing will look like, but industry professionals can offer insights and predictions into some of the possibilities.

In just the last year, marketers embraced digital transformation more than ever as they adapted to constantly changing virtual and hybrid business landscapes during the COVID-19 pandemic. Then, as countries cautiously reopened and more consumers left the house, some businesses saw slumps in the virtual engagement and online traffic they’d recently relied on.

Keeping up with these changes isn’t always easy. Marketers who meticulously planned out their marketing activities based on what they knew at the start of that year found themselves needing to scrap their plan and start from scratch. Due to that, these are the highlighted marketing trends for 2022.

The Importance of Mobile Optimization Will Grow

It’s no surprise that people are spending more time on their phones and tablets. In reality, mobile devices, including tablets, account for more than half of all annual online website traffic. Furthermore, as the purchasing power of millennials and Gen Z grows, mobile-optimised digital experiences will become crucial for businesses’ marketing plans to engage with these fast-paced, highly connected generations.

Your website’s mobile optimization is made with a responsive design. This is more expensive to create, but it assures that your entire website is mobile-friendly. In the long run, this will result in major improvements in user experience, website speed, user engagement, average time on site, and mobile SEO. These efforts help you reach a large segment of mobile-driven target audiences so that you can further improve your business.

SEO is No Longer a Norm, but a Cult Classic

The major rationale for using SEO-based marketing approaches, particularly as a small business, is to attract organic (non-paid) traffic. SEO refers to the employment of specific procedures to enhance a website’s ranking on Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs).

As the demand for SEO tactics grows, so do the prospects for search optimization. As Google’s algorithms have progressed, SEO has become much more than just cranking out basic posts that respond to simple search queries. Brands are now hiring SEO experts to assist them with everything from keyword research to multimedia optimization.

Consumers Will Immerse Themselves in Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) Environments

In recent years, brands have started to use AR and VR to enhance customer experiences, delivering a higher level of immersion while operating at a distance. This tendency was especially important in the light of the Covid-19 pandemic’s social distancing rules.

AR is the layering of digital characteristics onto reality to produce an augmented perception of the world, whereas VR is the total immersion of a customer into a new, digital environment. Virtual reality and augmented reality are being utilised to enhance and improve customer experiences both online and at events. Due to the high cost of equipment and large headsets, marketers have been sluggish to adopt this trend. Businesses should anticipate to include VR glasses and AR apps into their marketing plan as the technology becomes more accessible.

Conclusion

While marketing trends come and go, the fundamentals of success stay the same: know your audience’s needs and connect with them simply and consistently. That’s why creating customer-centric content has always been the most effective strategy to build strong bonds with your audience.

The Value of UI/UX in Growing Your Business

Megat Syahmi Waiz 31 May 2022 0

Your website is one of the most significant components of your brand’s online presence, so make sure it’s well-designed. To achieve conversions, you should nurture the topmost leads on your website. As a result, any website failures that drive your prospects to leave are unaffordable. Your website should be developed with your target demographic in mind and give a positive user experience. A decent website design has numerous other advantages for both your organisation and your viewers. If your company is becoming digital, it’s a good idea to put time and money into designing and developing digital goods (websites, mobile apps, and so on) that give a pleasant user experience in order to reap the many benefits it may bring to your company’s ROIs.

Win Confidence

A well-designed website communicates validity and aids in brand awareness, enhancing your company’s reputation. This is especially true in the digital age when your company is up against a slew of new competitors. Good UI and UX design will help your brand stand out and be the best among its competitors, resulting in customer conversion. It is the role of the UI/UX developers to lead visitors to their chosen objectives in the most effective way possible whether they are surfing your websites or using your applications. Over time, UI and UX professionals will assist businesses in increasing revenue, customer retention, and brand value.

Helps Understand The Audience

You must first comprehend your clients’ requirements before building an effective Ul/UX for your platform. As a result, your design has been built with your target audience in mind. Your website or app will appeal to the demographic for whom it was created. Ul/UX also helps you to segment your audience, which is essential for determining what each group needs. Understanding your target market makes it simple to convert prospects into committed customers, resulting in increased sales.

Attracts Users

User interface design and user experience make you stand out and enhance consumer fulfilment. Nothing can stop people from exploring further and increasing conversions if your website is beautifully designed and they can locate relevant material. That initial impression is crucial. Once users arrive on your app/website, the user-friendly UI/UX design will entice them to stay longer. Including social sharing buttons on your website will aid in the promotion of your site, resulting in a rise in visitors, traffic, and engagement.

Boosts Branding

The first impression is crucial. Brand identity is something that distinguishes your goods from other businesses in the same way that you own your identity. The identity of your product is communicated through brand identity, which is usually straightforward, clear, clean, and visually appealing. Your brand’s identity is undoubtedly distinguished by its user interface. You establish your reputation when you have a fantastic design, and when you build your reputation, you set the standard for client expectations.

If your website or app’s colour scheme isn’t appealing, more than half of Internet visitors will skip it. As a result, you must exercise caution when creating your app’s/ user website experience. You must first determine which elements your users prefer and dislike, and then tailor the user experience accordingly. This will help you avoid costly UI/UX errors and will improve your market reputation. If you’re a small business, this is very beneficial. A seamless and interactive user interface/user experience can help you establish your brand’s market reputation.

Saves Time & Money

There is a slim probability that your clients will uncover a flaw in your application if you invest in a great Ul/UX design. An ideal product will not require regular updates, saving you both money and time. Upgrades necessitate financial and time investments. Your company will suffer as a result of this. There are very few problems with your application or website if you hire a specialist UI/UX designer. A flawless product will have no flaws and may not require frequent updates. This saves you time and money that you would have otherwise spent on employing a web designer.

Conclusion

The Ul/UX design of your website or application is an extremely important component that determines the success of your online presence. You must investigate what makes your app more appealing and engaging to your users. Understanding your target market’s demands and preferences is the only way to do this. If companies can implement user-centric methods, they will almost certainly see an improvement in customer satisfaction and engagement. As a result, it would produce better business data and create more revenue. A poorly designed user experience, on the other hand, might substantially reduce conversions.
