At the vanguard of Malaysian metro rail development, the Minister of Finance Incorporated established MRT Corp in 2011. The corporation manages to complete the country's first MRT line MRT Kajang Line, in 2017. MRT Corp developed four railway lines: the Kajang Line, the Putrajaya Line, the RTS Link, and the MRT3 Circle Line. Named as the Malaysian InfraCo for the Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS), MRT Corp aspires to accelerate urban socio-economic regeneration through the construction of transit-oriented neighbourhoods across the country.
MRT Corp requested to create a centralised website with a structured information architecture that connects with their visitors. With their mega-scaled projects and a complex network of collaborations, they needed to establish a unique identity that stands out. MRT Corp’s objective is to give a clear picture of its works and emphasise its role as developers of MRT and not the operator – a common misunderstanding by the public.
We integrated an in-depth user experience research by adding various methodologies such as user interviews, card sorting, prototype development, micro usability testing and competitor analysis to establish a solid understanding before creating the website. Gathering in-person knowledge about their business allowed us to craft a bespoke user journey for every single user with any background. We replaced complex materials with infographics and animations for easy digestibility and readability. Meeting one of their goals, we successfully distinguished its role between MRT Corp and MRT Line Operator (Prasarana).
We offered new features like Search Filters and employed CMS to secure the server. In terms of maintenance, we make sure the website technology is up-to-date to improve security and dependability. With an updated design, we help the website reduce its bounce rate and increase its overall engagement.
